Reimagining Public Journalism for a New Generation

Designing a content-first digital ecosystem that makes agriculture, food, and sustainability stories accessible, engaging, and trustworthy.

πŸš€ UX PROJECT

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» ROLE

Lead UX & Visual Designer Branding + Product UX

The Plate is an agro-centric public journalism platform designed to bridge the gap between India's agricultural ecosystem and young audiences.

Despite agriculture employing nearly 40% of India's workforce, the narratives around it remain inaccessible, expert-driven, and disconnected from everyday users. The objective was to transform complex agricultural information into engaging, relatable, and multi-format content experiences.

Bridging agriculture and young audiences

OVERVIEW

Modern users consume content differently - but agricultural journalism hasn't kept pace with how people discover, consume, and trust content today.

Agricultural journalism hasn't evolved

πŸš€ THE PROBLEM

Content written for experts, not general users

Low engagement due to long-form, heavy formats

Lack of trust and relatability

Poor discoverability across platforms

"How might we design a journalism platform that aligns with how young users discover, consume, and trust content today?"

Horizontal Swipe Innovation

Instead of traditional scroll, introduced horizontal swipe for article consumption mimics natural reading behavior, improves scannability, and reduces fatigue.

Users can choose how they consume not forced into one format.

KEY LEARNINGS

What this project taught me

Content design is a system problem, not a UI problem

Format defines engagement more than content volume

Trust is built through clarity and structure

Multi-format ecosystems increase retention

Simplicity drives scale

The Plate is not just a content platform β€” it is a reimagined system for how information is structured, delivered, and experienced.

The future of journalism is not about more content β€” it's about better-designed content systems.
